Patient Info - Frequently Asked Questions
Is your office scent-free?
Yes. To ensure the comfort and health of our patients and staff, we kindly ask that you avoid wearing perfumes, colognes, or scented products when visiting our office. Thank you for helping us maintain a scent-free environment.
What should I bring to my appointment?
To ensure a smooth visit please bring: your health card (OHIP), any glasses or contact lenses you currently wear, a list of medications and your insurance information, if applicable. Bringing these items helps us provide efficient, accurate, and personalized eye care.
Do you accept insurance, and how does billing work at West Nipissing Eyecare?
We accept OHIP (as applicable) and most private insurance plans, and we offer direct billing when possible. Our team is happy to assist with claims, but patients are responsible for understanding their coverage to ensure benefits are applied correctly.
Do I need a referral or are you accepting new patients?
No referral is needed. Please call our clinic to check if we are accepting new patients or to be added to our wait list.
How often should I have an eye exam?
The Ontario Association of Optometrists recommends regular eye exams to maintain optimal eye health. Frequency depends on age, eye health, and medical conditions. Your optometrist will advise the best schedule for you during your visit.
What should I expect during a contact lens fitting?
During a contact lens fitting, our optometrist evaluates your eyes to determine the best lenses for vision and comfort. You’ll receive instructions on insertion, removal, and care. A teaching session ensures you feel confident with your new lenses. Follow-up visits may be scheduled for optimal fit and eye health.
